The Odyssey sounds fantastic and very musical.
The Odyssey has a good tuning stability and hi-fi sound. It sounds clean (noise) and doesn´t fall out of a modern digital sound.
It offers in addition to its already existing complexity very good opportunities for further modifications.
There is not much technology in the Odyssey, which simplifies maintenance at lower prices.
It is easily transportable and not very heavy.
It is quick in operation.
The interface is intuitive to use and sliders can be perceived faster than pots. The arrangement of the parameters is the most comprehensive that I know.
The Odyssey is still relatively cheap!
It may be added a third VCO (eg. in the form of Little Brother).
Some modifications should be performed in any case, because they make the instrument better/more powerful than it is in new condition.
Audiopath and filter upgrade eliminate production errors. Good is also a (3 position) switch for the acceleration and deceleration of the envelopes (factor 10). For percussive sounds, the acceleration is extremely effective - such fast envelopes are very rare in the analog world and the Odyssey can be far ahead. The slowdown, however, increases the periods of modulation processes significantly, thereby affecting widening on the musical spectrum.
The same should happen with the LFO rate (factor 2). Modified it so extends into the audio range (FM). Helpful is also a switch for mono or duophonic play. It extends the action more than it appears at first sight.
Another LFO, LAG-processor, sine and triangular waveforms, or Aux inputs for filter frequency, resonance, and LFO speed and aftertouch can be added to the synthesizer. A complete modularization, however, is not so useful because the Odyssey uses different voltages internally.
